An introduction to Jeonju, South Korea

Jeonju is a city of 650,000 people. It is provincial capital of Jeollabukdo in the west of the Korean peninsular. It is an important tourist center famous for Korean food, historic buildings, sports activities and innovative festivals. It has a bustling downtown area situated around Geaksa house, where a myriad of international brands can be found alongside local offerings. It also has an electric nightlife, situated in the most part around Cheonbuk university in the north of the city.
The western foreign community in the city currently numbers around 350, made up largely of Canadians and Americans with a good representation from the UK. There are approximately 2500 further foreign nationals registered with Jeonju Immigration, the majority of these Filipino or other other south east Asian roots.
